Quick and Easy Flower Head Birthday Cards

Good evening. Today I am sharing a set of quick and easy cards that I had to make in a hurry for a couple of friends this week. I used muted colours so that they were not too ‘girly’ for my male friends.

AW Bill Card

AW man card 1

The theme for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Challenge Mon and Wed Challenge is ‘Stencil It’ – so I have entered these.

Materials:

Flowerhead stamps: Daisy Ring Centre and Swirl Centre from Chocolate Baroque and sentiment (unknown brand)

6 X 6 inch scalloped white card blanks, green card scraps for stamping

Distress Inkpad (Tattered Rose), Versamark and Versafine (Vintage Sepia)

Mica Boss heat embossing powder

Mixed colour gilding flakes (silver, gold, copper)

Watercolour and sparkle pens

6 X 6 mandala stencil (Dutch Doobadoo?) and large soft brush

PVA pearls (copper)

Scalloped circle die

How to make them:

Flowerheads were stamped onto die cut green card with Versamark and heat embossed with Mica Boss powder. The embossed image remains sticky allowing you to apply gilding flakes, transfer foils or mica powders etc. I used mixed coloured gilding flakes for these.

Quickly coloured with water based media and sparkle pens. The embossed areas resist the colour so this can be done in minutes.

The backgrounds were really very quick too, each taking around 30 seconds. I used a large soft brush and Distress Ink through a mandala stencil. You don’t need to ink the middles as this will be covered up by the topper.

Flowerheads were mounted onto the card fronts with 3D foam for added dimension. Finished with PVA pearls.

  1. The stencil works beautifully with your central flower, Anne! Thanks for joining us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!
