Fantasy Pine Scene Canvas created with Powertex

I had so much fun creating this pine cone scene.

AW Pine Scene Canvas

I used some twigs and pine cones from my stash (they must be fully dried out to avoid development of mould), hessian, T shirt fabric, kitchen paper, Sand & Balls and even broken egg shells (fully washed and membranes removed).

The background sky was created with Pebeo Fantasy paints (Moon, Prisme and Vitrail).

Mixed Media Canvas using Powertex and Pebeo Fantasy paints

Woohoo – just finished another canvas using Powertex for the fabric, hessian, and pine cones etc. I even added crushed egg shells to this one. Then filled the background using Pebeo Fantasy paints (Moon, Prisme and Glitter Vitrail). Photo doesn’t do it justice – lots of metallic gold and copper plus sheen and glitter sparkle with the paints (can see it a little in the close up). Fun!

A friend asked me to confirm how I stuck down and treated the cones:

I first ensured that the cones were fully dried out (about a month indoors) and stable (binned any falling apart etc.) painted the Powertex into all the crevices – a couple of layers. Painted the canvas with Powertex, then added all the Powertex treated stuff – sticking down directly onto coated canvas. Where needed I used treated kitchen towel bits to make a ‘3D gel’ to embed twigs & cones & make them more stable. Added more Powertex over cones so that more got down into crevices etc. Hope this helps if you would like to try out xxx

Eye of the Beholder Mixed Media Canvas using Pebeo Fantasy Paints

Good afternoon. This is another mixed media canvas that I have just completed. I am calling it ‘Eye of the Beholder’. I used texture pastes and Pebeo Fantasy paints to create the main panel. I used more texture paste through stencils and die cuts along with acrylic paints to create the background panel.

I first spread the canvas with some left over coloured texture pastes (from another project – I hate wasting anything).

I then started pouring on the Fantasy paints, finishing with lines of Relief Paste and little gems while the paints were still wet. I simply had a play.

I felt it needed a decent background panel to show it off so I created the textured panel with acrylics, paste through stencils and a few die cuts. The sentiments were stamped and embossed with sparkly gold powder.

Materials:

12 X 12 and 8 X 8 inch canvas boards

Pebeo Fantasy paints (Moon and Prisme)

Pebeo Ceramic and Glass paints

Pebeo Relief Paste (gold)

Acrylic paints and Starlight paints (Imagination Crafts)

Versamark inkpad and sparkly gold embossing powder

Pebeo Gilding Wax (gold)

Sand and grass texture pastes

Acrylic gems

Text stamps (Sheena Douglass – Dream)

Die cuts (Sheena Douglass – Create A Flower – What a Mesh and Going in Spirals)

Stencils (with organic designs)
